How did MAMZ get the CIA's Permission to "Crash the Gates" of the Democratic Party?

The problem with the Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga (MAMZ), DailyKos, it's Front-Page Writers, Trusted Users, and others who operate DailyKos is that they do so for reasons other than the reasons announced.  They have a private group of nationally known bloggers, by invitation only, called the Townhouse Group.  The Townhouse group gets together (mostly over the Internet, probably) and decides what the American Left will say and what the Left will avoid saying. The problem with this is that at least one founder of this group is a CIA-trained manipulator.

Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga (MAMZ) acknowledges having spent two years training with the CIA, and also said in a June 2, 2006 interview at the Commonwealth Club:

I’ve never had any problem with the CIA. I’d have no problem working for them. Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA at the Commonwealth Club.

MAMZ has never denied that he does work for the CIA at the present, so the information we have, based on his comments, is only that, after training with the CIA, he'd "have no problem working for them."  Maybe HE DOES work for them!  Has anyone asked him and been told otherwise?

Having a CIA agent among the ranks of bloggers of the American Left is like having a convicted pedophile working at a your child's nursery school.  There are laws and corporate policies to prevent that from happening because everyone can see how fundamentally wrong it is to risk the safety of children by hiring someone who is inherently untrustworthy and sexually manipulative.  A CIA agent working among bloggers presents a similar level of risk.  After all, what do "secret agents" learn at the CIA if not manipulation of the groups which they infiltrate?

Since Stu Piddy and I disseminated the information on MAMZ's connection to the CIA, the idea of having a CIA agent working among the Left has become normalized, ostensibly because, in the words of one Black blogger who works directly with MAMZ setting up the yearly Netroots Nation conferences:  "" 

You can't read what the front page writers at DailyKos post for the purpose of determining whether they are sincere or not. You have to ask yourself what purpose the CIA would have in setting up DailyKos.  As Stu Piddy first observed, MAMZ has acknowledged that he was in training at the CIA when he started DailyKos. Pardon me for letting my imagination roam, but I can just imagine MAMZ's conversation with his secret-agent training supervisor at the CIA when MAMZ announced that in his spare time he was starting a "leftist" blog for "crashing the gates" of the Democratic Party:

MAMZ:  Bob, you're my supervisor and there's something I think you should know.  I know the CIA is usually a tool of the rich and a hammer over the head of poor people around the globe, but do you think it would be OK if I start a leftist blog about Leftist revolution while I'm still training at the CIA?

BOB, the CIA Supervisor: We know that you've been working on doing that because we listen in on your telephone conversations and we read your e-mail while you're in training at the CIA. I'm glad you've come to me with this idea instead of forcing me to confront you about it.

MAMZ: You've known all along that I want to be wealthy and famous, like my uncle (?) in El Salvador and you haven't said anything to me about it?

BOB, the Boss: (Begins to smile a devilish smile.) Yes, MAMZ, the truth is we think you starting a Leftist blog is an EXCELLENT idea, and we have a whole team of Internet experts, writers and, psy-ops psychologists who can help you to do this on a major level, with international influence.

MAMZ: But would the CIA help me to do this and expect nothing in return?

BOB: We would expect nothing in return other than your obedience, because we believe we can secretly use your blog and the contacts you make to control the entire American Left AND influence the media that the Left and everyone else reads.

MAMZ: Oh, OK. So, I can start my blog?

BOB: Sure! There's a large airplane hanger-sized office where you can work on your blog that's going to be the size of a Wal-Mart store, and we'll have your team assembled within a week. We even have someone contacting the other "Leftist" blogs so that you can all work in tandem.

MAMZ: Oh thanks! I knew you would understand!

BOB: I understand a lot more than you'll ever know, MAMZ.

While we don't know that the interaction occurred precisely as I say it did, we do know with certainty that it would be impossible to become a well-known "leftist" blogger while training to be a secret agent at the CIA without the issue coming up.  We should ALL want to know how that issue was resolved; what MAMZ got; and what the CIA got.  We should also wonder whether the training he received at the CIA was, from the beginning, precisely for the purpose of infiltrating and manipulating the American Left.

What feeds the rumor that Markos Moulitsas is gay?

I've always wondered how rumors seemingly credible and well-known get started. There seem to be a few key points, based strictly on my own observation:

• The target of the rumor is well-know or becomes well-known within a given culture or sub-culture as the rumor spreads.
• The rumor seems to explain other well-known facts that are otherwise inexplicable.
• The people spreading the rumor (if its perceived as negative) are people who never liked the target of the rumor in the first place.
• It is virtually impossible to stop the spread of the rumor, if only because the public target's denial of the purported or strongly suspected facts would tend to spread the rumor further, and get more of the public involved in the quest for the truth, which might well confirm the rumor.
• Rumors must be "sticky" in the sense that they capture suspicions and the imagination of the public, which makes individuals want to pass on the information to others.  "Making a site sticky means that you are giving your readers what they want, and giving them a reason to stay on the site. " 

In the case of Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga (MAMZ), the rumor is that he is a closeted gay homophobe.  This rumor is perceived as credible by many who Google MAMZ because:

• MAMZ seems somewhat effeminate to many people; 
• He admittedly joined the army in an effort to be become and be perceived as a "real man"; 

at least one photograph of him seems to show him wearing bright red lipstick; 

MAMZ himself brought his own sexuality into question and amplified the public doubts when he wrote a letter to his college newspaper in which he said he felt "inherently uncomfortable" around gays because they might be looking at his "underpants," and he said he would feel uncomfortable undressing in front of a woman".

In an autobiographical article that MAMZ wrote for the American Prospect, dated April 16, 2006, MAMZ said of his participation in the US Army:

But basic training was the best thing to ever happen to me. They say they break you down in basic training so they can rebuild you into a real man. I was already broken when I arrived at Fort Sill. For me, it was all building.

Why did MAMZ feel like he was not a "real man" and how likely is it that those feelings were thoroughly extinguished by changing his "underwear" in front of other men for two or three months?

Rather than confirm his sense of manhood, his participation in the Army seems to have left him feeling more insecure.  In a letter to his the student newspaper at his alma mater, Northern Illinois University, MAMZ, after he left the Army, MAMZ said:

Worrying about whether the known homosexual sleeping next to you is watching as you change your underwear may seem trivial as you read this, but to the soldier who’s short-tempered after three weeks in the field and four hours of daily sleep, it becomes a matter of great importance to his pride and sensibilities. And in any case, there aren’t many people who would change clothes in a group of co-workers if members of the opposite sex were in the same room watching. There is something inherently uncomfortable about it. Such fears would go a long way in disrupting efficiency and morale in a unit.

One particular aspect of that letter seems especially curious and troubling.  MAMZ said:

. . . in any case, there aren’t many people who would change clothes in a group of co-workers if members of the opposite sex were in the same room watching.

For many men, being naked in front of a women "of the opposite sex" has only positive associations, since undressing with a woman present is a necessary and desirable part of having sex with her.  I believe many "real men" feel this way.  Being afraid to be naked in front of a woman seems sexually immature and profoundly un-masculine.  MAMZ seems to conflate and be unable to perceive any difference between undressing in front of gay men and undressing in front of members of the "opposite sex."   


One has to wonder, ïndeed, why MAMZ conflates being naked in front of gay men with being naked in front of women.  Is that really the same thing?  Maybe it is, if you secretly sexually desire naked men as much or more than you sexually desire women.

Many in the blogosphere have wondered what the word "undecided" meant to MAMZ in the letter to the student newspaper, and in the context of a letter about fear of gay men?  It seems reasonable to wonder precisely what MAMZ was "undecided" about, and whether he was ever able completely resolve his indecision.  Certainly the term "undecided" can be understood in ways in this context. 


People constantly Google "gay" and "Kos" and then find their way to this blog. Ironically, the nickname that Kos' associates gave him in the Army is also the name of a notoriously gay mecca resort island of the coast of Greece.  One has to wonder if the nickname was entirely coincidental or was suggestive of some part of MAMZ personality that was perceived and "named" by his Army co-workers.

I believe that much of the speculation about MAMZ`s sexuality comes from gays and lesbians who would like to publicly claim MAMZ as one of their own, but who cannot do so unless and until MAMZ "comes out of the closet," if indeed that's where he is now.

Right-Wing Tea Party Participants Comments Deleted at DailyKos.

In the comments to this diary, "Trusted Users" at DailyKos explain in the comments how they are able to make "Tea Party" comments disappear before most people at DailyKos or anyone else see them and be infected by a perspective other than the approved ones.

People who have participated at DailyWhitosphere (still virtually no Black or Latino participants there) know that Tea Party members are not the only ones whose messages are diligently censored.

The Trusted-User writer of a the diary at DailyKos about Tea Party activists explains why Tea Party comments cannot be seen at DailyKos.

But in writing about them here, I've attracted a couple three trolls, the leader of whom believes that lots of troll comments will "shut them down."

He's evidently unaware of the hidden comments feature.  (Emphasis added.)

The American right wing is discovering what progressives, Blacks and Latinos have learned about DailyKos: Since the discussion there is carefully monitored and censored to exclude many topics and views, it is not possible to assemble a group of bloggers there who disagree with the Townhouse approved messages.  As Chris Suellentrop explained at the New York Times,

The liberal blogosphere — which usually erupts with ad hominem attacks on the messenger whenever it is subject to the mildest, even-handed criticisms — has been eerily silent since last week’s revelation that MyDD.com founder and DailyKos ally Jerome Armstrong is the subject of a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation for allegedly taking money to promote a stock on a prominent online bulletin board. The New Republic’s Jason Zengerle, writing on his magazine’s The Plank blog, uncovers an e-mail from Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, the proprietor of DailyKos, that may help explain things.


“TNR obtained a missive Kos sent earlier this week to ‘Townhouse,’ a private email list comprising elite liberal bloggers, including Jane Hamsher, Matt Stoller, and Christy Hardin Smith,” Zengerle writes. “And what was Kos’s message to this group that secretly plots strategy in the digital equivalent of a smoke-filled backroom? Stay mum!”


Zengerle publishes Moulitsas’s e-mail in full. In it, Moulitsas says he is considering suing “some of the wingnut bloggers” who are speculating about the story. He also asks his fellow liberal bloggers to keep quiet: “My request to you guys is that you ignore this for now. It would make my life easier if we can confine the story. Then, once Jerome can speak and defend himself, then I’ll go on the offensive (which is when I would file any lawsuits) and anyone can pile on. If any of us blog on this right now, we fuel the story. Let’s starve it of oxygen.”

Questions for Jack and Jill Politics' Relationship w/ DailyKos/YearlyKos

Jill Tubman of Jack and Jill Politics is on the Board of Netroots Nation, along with Markos C.Alherto Moulitsas Zúñiga, about whom a body of research establishes that he was trained by the Central Intelligence Agency and only became a "progressive blogger" during his training at the CIA.

In preparation for another annual "Netroots Nation" conference of virtually all-white bloggers from around the nation, Jill Tubman asks the Readers of Jack and Jill Politics to submit questions for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, with whom she expects to meet during Netroots Nation.

I have the same question for Jill Tubman that I have for Nancy Pelosi. Netroots Nation is the new name for YearlyKos, a meeting of bloggers convened by a man who acknowledges that he was working at or "training" at the Central Intelligence Agency when he founded the DailyKos blog. That man, Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga (MAMZ) remains on the Board of Netroots Nation.

My question for Jill Tubman and Nancy Pelosi is, "The founder and a board member of YearlyKos/Netroots Nation acknowledges that he spent two years training with the CIA between 2001 and 2003. Does that compromise the credibility and validity of the YearlyKos/Netroots Nation meeting in any way?

I have a second question. Jose Antonio Vargas wrote while reporting for the Washington Post in 2007 that Yearly Kos was "a sea of middle-aged white males.". Meanwhile, Quantcast.com, a media analysis company, says that DailyKos has 5% Black participation among its participants and zero (0) percent participation of Latinos. Gina Cooper told the Washington Post reporter, "I hate to use the word diversity."

Why and how has a meeting that has so little Black and Latino participation gained so much traction in a Party which, in many electoral contests, cannot win an election without the votes of Blacks and Latinos?

And now a question for the readers of Jack and Jill Politics: Do you believe that JJP is compromised in any way by its close affilliation with the CIA-trained blogger, Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga through its collaboration with the CIA-trained blogger on the Netroots Nation conference and other matters?

Here's another question: Is it presumptuous and misleading for the meeting to call itself Netroots "NATION," when the group has absolutely no measurable Latino participation and only 5% Black participation?, according to Quantcast.com. In his writing, MAMZ has disavowed his own Latino heritage. See "MAMZ Denies Being Latino in Spite of "ZÚÑIGA" Maternal Surname."

Here's what MAMZ had to say about his relationship to Blacks and Latinos: He said he was blissfully happy in his "selfish detachment" from us and our concerns, this is a quote from an article he wrote:

"I was terribly happy to escape the ugliness of a racist world for the safety of my every day-to-day life. Sure, I could always talk against racism, fight ignorance and prejudice wherever I ran into it, yet I would always be looking in from another room and I could always close the door. My life, in my world, in my own detached selfishness. And as I left the ugly reality of racism behind, it struck me that what was such an easy and trivial exercise for me would be impossible for anyone whose skin color or religious persuassion made them the target of bigotry and discrimination. They would never be able to escape who they were. "

If you read the five articles he wrote, he clearly states that he prefers to live in "selfish detachment" from the very Blacks and Latinos whom he interviewed in order to write the articles about "racism" on his college campus.

OK I know that some readers will say that MAMZ has changed since he made those statements in writing. If MAMZ has changed, then why was he supporting and promoting "states' rights" (the "right" of states to discriminate without Federal Government intervention) as late as 2006? Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga (MAMZ) Disavows Membership in Any Ethnic Group other than White Men

The sordid background information on this MAMZ character and his Salvadoran oligarchy family are all thoroughly documented with extensive links to Government, corporate and non-profit organization websites and documents in "The Indictment of Markos C. Most importantly, MAMZ has never denied any of the above. And virtually all of the above comes directly from MAMZ own writings. Why did MAMZ oppose, in writing, ALL gay participation in the US Military, while declaring that working around gays is "inherently uncomfortable"?

How much more do you need to know about MAMZ to realize that he cannot be trusted?

Nickname "Kos" Confused with Greek Kos' Gay Island Mecca

Of course, I feel personally gratified when visitors read the Truth About Kos blog and are able to find the answers to questions and doubts that may have been nagging them for days, weeks or years with respect to Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga (MAMZ) and his Salvadoran oligarchy family.   New online book says Kos' "family hotel" manager is also president of the Association of Salvadoran Hotels and president of the Salvadoran National Tourism Board.)

While it is certainly true that many visitors reach this blog to research MAMZ's sexuality, my "Truth About Kos" Site Meter tells me that others are seeking information about a gay tourist mecca in Greece, which is a city called "Kos" on an island called "Kos."  Kos--the CIA-trained blogger--is half-Greek and that only fuels the confusion.  Army buddies seem to have given "Kos" a nickname that, when Googled, leads directly to gay tourism advertisements as well as MAMZ's subsequent letter castigating both President Bill Clinton and gays over their advocacy for gays in the US military.



Ironically, when you publicly speak and write about that which you most hate and fear, and publish those sentiments and writings, then you ultimately become inseparable at Google from the supposed vice that you so vehemently oppose.  The Senator Larry Craig case and many others show that this association is not necessarily unfair.

The confusion between Kos, the blogger media mogul, and Kos the gay island mecca is ironic in light of the letter (MAMZ) once sent to his college newspaper, the Northern Star, in which MAMZ vehemently opposed ALL gay service in the US Armed Forces.  Ironically, just a couple of years earlier, MAMZ says his Army buddies gave him is the name "Kos," which is also the name of a notoriously gay-friendly Greek Island and city.  Ironically, he says he joined the military in the hopes that it would make a "real man" out of him. 

The letter shows an ill-formed sense of gender-self, as well a suspiciously over-heated opposition to gay rights, in which he makes an all-too-obvious effort to distinguish, distance and literally separate himself from other Army recruits who were gay. He said he was afraid they were looking at his underpants.  It sounds like unnecessary  angst to me.  In my opinion, (although MAMZ would apparently disagree with me), it is entirely possible to be both gay AND a "real man."
So, as the screen-shot  below shows, Google users come to the Truth About Kos blog in search of a "gay kos sauna."  This blog has no information connecting Markos Moulitsas to a "gay Kos sauna."  If we find any, we will certainly post it here, along with the other curious coincidences between MAMZ, his Army nickname, his half-Greek heritage, and his opposition to gay rights.

Markos Moulitsas Opposed Gays in Military, Claimed not to be Latino

Like West Virginia Senator Robert Bird, who once was a member of the Klu Klux Klan, but later came within the fold of current mainstream politics, Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga (MAMZ) once opposed ALL participation by gays in the US Military and ridiculed President Clinton for attempting to write an executive order that would allow gays to serve with equality.  In the end, Clinton lost that battle and America got "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."Back in 1993, MAMZ said in a letter entitled "Military Right that he published at his college newspaper,

It's truly disturbing how much ado has been made over Bill Clinton’s campaign promise to lift the ban on homosexuals from the U.S. military. It’s ironic how it has taken a president who has never served in the military to make a promise that affects the military in such a negative manner. Those who have served in the military, such as myself, understand the demands and pressures of military life are incompatible with allowing integration with homosexuals.( . . . )MARKOS C.A. MOULITSAS Undecided Freshman

The insurmountable problem with "The Rehabilitation of Markos Moulitsas" is that Moulitsas acknowledges that he spent from 2001 until 2003 training with the CIA to be a member of their "Clandestine Services."  (See Transcript of MAMZ's Interview at the Commonwealth Club, June 2, 2006.)  So when MAMZ speaks, we are compelled to wonder and doubt whether we are hearing his true beliefs or are hearing CIA-funneled and sculpted efforts by MAMZ to endear himself to progressives in order that progressives be known and led primarily by a servant of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Personally, I believe that when admittedly extreme right-wing Republicans are trained at the CIA and then claim to have become progressives, and endeavor to claim the mantle of leader of all progressives, there must be an extremely high bar before credulity can be given to anything and everything at all that they say. I believe that bar can never, ever be vaulted under circumstances such as those of MAMZ.

The incredible nature of MAMZ's statements in the past cast a long shadow over everything he says in the present.  For example, in spite of having the maternal surname "Zúñiga" and being born to a mother who was from El Salvador, MAMZ essentially said, in an article published at his college newspaper, that he is not Hispanic or Latino, but is simply a white man who would never be subject to discrimination.  On that occasion, MAMZ said,

Today the [Northern] Star ran the last of my four-part series on racism at NIU. Having been a project that dominated my life for the last couple of weeks, I was more than glad to have it finished and over with so I could return to the mundane world of Faculty Senate meetings and other reporter stuff. Yet as I gathered the last interviews and typed the final words of the final story, I was overcome by a strange, uneasy feeling. I was terribly happy to escape the ugliness of a racist world for the safety of my every day-to-day life.

Sure, I could always talk against racism, fight ignorance and prejudice wherever I ran into it, yet I would always be looking in from another room and I could always close the door. My life, in my world, in my own detached selfishness. And as I left the ugly reality of racism behind, it struck me that what was such an easy and trivial exercise for me would be impossible for anyone whose skin color or religious persuassion made them the target of bigotry and discrimination. They would never be able to escape who they were.

Who are the "THEM's" an the "THEY's" referred to in the passage above?  If you read Moulitsas' assigned series of articles (see links to all Moulitsas college articles) about "racism" on his college campus, it's clear that the people he says he can divorce himself from are the Blacks and Latinos on his own college campus.  He is not one of them, but is merely reporting on their difficulties because the college newspaper editor has asked him to do so.  He expresses great relief when the task is over and he can go back to thinking and acting like a privileged heterosexual white man, rather than confront the difficulties of a Latino in Northern Illinois.

Many Blacks have "passed for white" over the centuries, in order to have more opportunities and avoid color-aroused barriers to their success, as well as color-aroused antagonism and violence.  MAMZ makes it clear above that he has chosen to "pass for white" rather than acknowledge his Latino heritage, and he underscores this choice by insisting that he be called "Markos Moulitsas," rather than "Markos Moulitsas Zúñiga". 
Why should he "own" his mother's heritage when it will prevent him from "leav[ing] the ugly reality of racism behind" and compel him to face "skin color or religious persuassion (sic) [that] made them the target of bigotry and discrimination?  It is far easier for him to simply identify as a clueless white man and use the light color of his skin to insist that he isn't Latino. 

Who can blame him from wanting to run from Latino ethnicity?  What makes this facile approach questionable is his subsequent insistence that he was a Hispanic/Latino leader while he was a student at Northern Illinois University. The above letter written by MAMZ makes his later claim simply impossible to believe. What Hispanics would choose to be led by a man who practiced "detached selfishness" where Latino issues were concerned?

There still remains a problem to such a flight from reality: MAMZ's Greek father has died and all of MAMZ's known relatives are from Salvadoran heritage.  MAMZ even celebrated his honeymoon at his "family business" hotel conglomerate in San Salvador. The Jaltepeque Suites Hotel that MAMZ called his "family business" is a part of a much larger real estate and tourism conglomerate called Club Joya Del Pacífico.
MAMZ is the "convenient Latino."

When noting his mother's ownership of a hotel in El Salvador that charges 140 dollars per night (one tenth the yearly family income of Salvadorans), MAMZ is the son of his wealthy Latino mother. Meanwhile, here in the United States, MAMZ maintains "detached selfishness" from Latinos, which explains why only one percent of the visitors to the "Daily Whitosphere" blog are Latino, according to Quantcast.com. "Detached selfishness" on MAMZ's part has led Latinos to ignore MAMZ and to be very suspicious of his patently false claims, denied and reasserted according to the circumstances, that MAMZ is a poor immigrant (born in Chigaco). For example, Jose Antonio Vargas wrote at the Washington Post that Yearly Kos was "a sea of middle-aged white males."
Meanwhile, the "Unapologetic Mexican" blog says,

WHOA. This article sort of throws a new light on Mister "poor immigrant" DailyKos Moulitsas and his Humble Salvadoran Family story. Maybe others who are familiar with DailyKos know about this, but it sure is news to me. And important news, given the size of his blog and the purported agendas.

Bottom line: When you collaborate with Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga, there is an altogether outsized chance that you are unknowingly supporting a CIA-sponsored front organization run by a member of the Salvadoran oligarchy, and you are collaborating indirectly with the "family business" and that is polluting an internationally recognized endangered estuary by clearing trees, keys, and building condominiums that pollute a fragile ecosystem.

Some readers will exclaim, "But Markos Moulitsas has done so much good for progressives!" I believe that's precisely the impression the CIA planned to promote when Markos Moulitsas admittedly trained with the CIA during 2001 until 2003. MAMZ has acknowledged training at the CIA but has never disavowed working for them at the present time. I personally wonder, without people like MAMZ, how could the CIA reliably control the flow and nature of information, the initiatives and participants of the American Left? I also wonder how much money MAMZ stands to inherit when businesses like Jaltepeque Suites Hotel, Club Joya del Pacífico and Baja Salt Group are bequeathed to the younger generation of the family that owns thes family businesses?

Can you really be a "progressive" in the United States when your Salvadoran family owns international conglomerates, one of which received a one million dollar loan guarantee from the United States Government's Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC)? MAMZ is dedicated, but the question is, "to whom"?

Above we have the 2010 statement of Secretary of Defense Gates' intention to prepare for gays openly to serve in the US.  Below, we have MAMZ's most candid statement of his feelings for gays in the military.  Hint:  "inherently uncomfortable."

It’s truly disturbing how much ado has been made over Bill Clinton’s campaign promise to lift the ban on homosexuals from the U.S. military. It’s ironic how it has taken a president who has never served in the military to make a promise that affects the military in such a negative manner.


Those who have served in the military, such as myself, understand the demands and pressures of military life are incompatible with allowing integration with homosexuals. I’m neither socially conservative or prejudiced, and neither is liberal columnist Mike Royko, Gen. Colin Powell, and influential liberal Democrats Sam Nunn and Les Aspin, all who’ve come out against lifting the ban.


Under military circumstances, as much has to be done as possible to focus the unit’s mission and keep disciplinary problems to a minimum. Worrying about whether the known homosexual sleeping next to you is watching as you change your underwear may seem trivial as you read this, but to the soldier who’s short-tempered after three weeks in the field and four hours of daily sleep, it becomes a matter of great importance to his pride and sensibilities.


And in any case, there aren’t many people who would change clothes in a group of co-workers if members of the opposite sex were in the same room watching. There is something inherently uncomfortable about it. Such fears would go a long way in disrupting efficiency and morale in a unit.

When we read that MAMZ's position toward Blacks and Latinos (and others who might suffer discrimination) was a stated position of "detached selfishness," wherein he decided not to concern himself with winning or protecting the rights of others, or opposing persecution, therefore it is not hard to understand that MAMZ's position on gays would be at least "detached selfishness."  However, the above letter tells us that MAMZ went far beyond apathy to public and open outright opposition to gay rights.

Parenthetically, I think the mistake President Bill Clinton made in 1993 was keeping Colin Powell on as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff before asking Powell whether Powell would support removing the bar against gay participation in the military.  Clinton was caught flat-footed when Powell opposed the overt (and covert) integration of gays into the Armed Forces.

The New York Times reported recently that Powell has changed his mind:

When Mr. Clinton tried to end the ban on gay soldiers, General Powell was the Joint Chiefs chairman and opposed the move on the grounds that it would undermine discipline and order in the military but he supported the “don’t ask” compromise. In his statement on Wednesday, General Powell said “the principal issue has always been the effectiveness of the Armed Forces and order and discipline in the ranks.” 

He noted that he had said for the past two years that it was “time for the law to be reviewed,” but his new statement of unequivocal support for the effort by Mr. Gates and Admiral Mullen could be an important factor as the debate moves forward this year.

No sooner had Clinton announced his determination to allow gay service by issuing and executive order than Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Colin Powell announced his opposition to Clinton's proposed executive order.  And Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga took a position substantially to the right of Phyllis Schafly's position:

On the matter of admitting gays to the military, Schlafly said she defers to 
the judgment of Gen. Colin Powell, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and 
other Pentagon brass who oppose it.

Schaffly "deferred to the judgment of Colin Powell" while MAMZ expressed his deeply held discomfort with gays, whose presence in the military, he said, made him "inherently uncomfortable."

Very Interesting.

As the founder, chief researcher and editor of the Truth About Kos blog cited above, I defy and challenge anyone and everyone to show us a single instance in which Markos C. Alberto Moultisas Zúñiga (MAMZ) has publicly mentioned the name of a single member of his birth family.

In fact, everything we know that is actually true about MAMZ was first researched and published by Stu Piddy at MyLeftWing (with a link to MAMZ's audiotaped CIA related confession at the Commonwealth Club) and then intensively and extensively researched and published at the Truth About Kos blog.

In order to write "The Indictment of Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA by Justice and History (Updated with Additional Information and Counts) " referenced above, I read every single biography and autobiograpy of MAMZ on the Internet, and then I Googled his name and read every biographical reference. I could only find mainstream newspaper and online articles that were either written by MAMZ (in which he acknowledged his connections to the far right of the Republican Party), and other articles that were based entirely on MAMZ's self-serving statements about himself.

I realized that literally none of what he told major online magazines and media reporters was independently researched and confirmed. (One need only look at the articles MAMZ wrote for his college newspaper to see that they were explosive and yet were never reported upon, because the media was too lazy to attempt to confirm what they were told. Aside from the two years that MAMZ admittedly spent at the CIA (2001-2003) while starting DailyKos (2002), all of the information about his obscenely wealthy Salvadoran oligarchy family and their right-wing political connections was discovered through an off-handed comment that MAMZ made in his online honeymoon album, (which was taken down from the Internet as soon as I used it as a source for most of the counts in "The Indictment . . . ").

Fortunately, I suspected that MAMZ might take the wedding album down and even get the copy of it scrubbed from Google cache, so I took screen shots of his honeymoon album and posted them at MyLeftWing as well as at The Truth About Kos.

In an unprecedented instance of MAMZ providing any information about his birth family that could be independently confirmed, MAMZ mentioned in his online honeymoon photo album that his honeymoon was spent at his "family business" hotel in El Salvador, called the Jaltepeque Suites Hotel. This reference is how I was able to discover who some of the members of his family are. (None of the people whose photographs appeared in the album were mentioned by name.)

However, by researching the Salvadoran incorporation documents of the Jaltepeque Suites Hotel and then Googling the name of the "family business"'s "manager" who coincidentally shares the last name "Zúñiga" with MAMZ, and then Googling the telephone number of that hotel, I was able to reveal not merely their website stating that they are the owners of the single longest beach property in El Salvador. I was also able to discover that the family had other businesses, one of which received a one million dollar loan gaurantee from the US Government's Overseas Private Investment Council (OPIC).

I believe the loan guarantee must be true, since it was mentioned in a press release by OPIC and stated that the beneficiary was Baja Salt, whose online website states that the owner is the same person who is the "manager" of MAMZ's family hotel, and who is a national tourism representative at the Salvadoran National Association for Private Enterprise (ANEP), which the CIA calls a right-wing "pressure group." It's all documented with copious links at the Truth About Kos.

Here is but a taste of what I discovered and published in the Indictment cited above and in subsequent posts at The Truth About Kos:

9). In fact, Mr. Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA’s family owns a sumptuous and “exclusive” resort hotel and tourism conglomerate in El Salvador called the "Club Joya del Pacífico" (Club Jewel of the Pacific) a unit of which is the (Jaltepeque Suites Hotel).


10). Demonstrating his connection to these, what MAMZ has called "family business" interests, Markos C.A. Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA invited his wife, friends and family to celebrate his honeymoon with him at the this Jaltepeque Suites Hotel after he was married in the year 2000. (For some reason, the original link no longer works. Fortunately, we have two screenshots from his wedding album, including their web addresses, to prove that the album was public before its significance was pointed out. And now it's gone.)
11). Markos C.A. Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA ZÚÑIGA's "family business" actually received five million dollars in foreign investments between 1997 and 2000, immediately before the period in which MAMZ states that he sought work at the CIA because he was "underemployed, unemployed." Carlos Alberto Delgado Zúñiga, the “family” member listed in government records as “manager” of the Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA’s hotel is also president of the “Junta Directiva” of the CÁMARA SALVADOREÑA DE TURISMO (CASATUR), the national tourism board of El Salvador, according to El Salvador's "La Prensa" newspaper. He has aggregated power in El Salvador through participation in a series of interlocking tourism-related directorates and has used this power to facilitate the destruction of the Jaltepeque Estuary by his hotel conglomerate, Club Jewel of the Pacific, even though the Jaltepeque Estuary is universally recognized by international groups as an endangered habitat for imperiled marine life. When you consider just the facts above, it is obvious that MAMZ has been bold-facedly lying about the nature of his family's polticis and political influence in El Salvador. He told one Salvadoran newspaper, "I didn't come from a wealthy or influential family", but anyone in El Salvador who operates a hotel that charges 140 dollars per night for a room is someone who is extremely wealthy, because the cost of renting a room for ONE NIGHT is equal to about a tenth of the YEARLY per capita income in El Salvador.

MAMZ is a liar and there is no way of getting around that fact. You can excuse it, rationalize it or minimize it, but you can't deny that MAMZ said he came as an immigrant from a humble family when, in fact, he was born in Chicago and his family is one of the most influential famileis in El Salvador, with one member even participating in drafting tourism laws that the "family business," that is really a unit of the family's mega-real estate complex called Club Joya del Pacífico. 

You don't have to believe me.  Just look at the website and compare the telephone numbers and personnel.

As far as President Obama, I agree that we haven't seen people who know state senator or US Senator or President Obama coming forth with information that hurts his image. I think that's because the people whom Obama has met have been impressed with him, and he has gone out of his way to make important and well-placed friends while not making enemies.


Even though the media reported on Obama's unpaid parking tickets from his time at Harvard Law School and, of course, the comments of Pastor Wright, I think there just wasn't enough dirt about him to fill a flower pot. Otherwise, the Clintons would certainly have used it against Obama at some point in the Democratic Presidential Primaries.

I think the media hasn't told us any dirt about Obama because there is none to tell, except the normal sausage-making commitments that a politician has to make in order to win the support of Wall Street, Blacks, gays and labor unions all at the same time.

Obama's mother was, indeed, an international foundation staffer, but the media has looked into her background, met her parents, published photographs of her, and yet no one has come forward with any information that contradicts what Obama said in his autobiography.

That's doesn't mean that Obama's mother wasn't involved with the CIA, but anyone who wants to research what she did is welcomed to report back to all of us, I'm sure. I'd certainly like to know if she had more contacts than we've been told about.

Unlike Markos Moulitsas, who has never, ever named a single member of his birth family, we have met Obama's sister and learned about his father. President Obama's network is easy enough to follow through the friends he made at Harvard, at the University of Chicago, and in his private civil rights practice, as well as in his days as an organizer. And then he also had the network of his wife, who was well-connected in Illinois non-profit and public relations circles. President Obama ran for office four times, and there was ample opportunity to delve into his background, as the crap about his minister and that commie Smile leftist activist show. In fact, we know a lot about Obama, but no among the Republicans (who promised to tear the bark of Michael Dukakis) or the Democrats was able to find any real dirt on President Obama. Surely the Clintons tried and surely the Republicans did their opposition research.

The only thing they would not have used against Obama was if they discovered that his mother was CIA. Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans would have spread that news and the media would have refused to report it. (Neither the Republicans not the Democrats have made an issue of Moulitsas' CIA contacts, even though mentioning those publicly acknowledged contacts would have the effect of driving a wedge between Moulitsas and half of his blog's participants as well as his supporters elsewhere. No political party or mainstream media outlet has addressed Markos Moulitsas' two years at the CIA, even though he has personally acknowledged on audiotape that he spent two years training with the CIA. And Democratic Party politicians still GO TO HIS ANNUAL MEETINGS!

Even though I was a long-time Clinton supporter who had always wanted Hillary to run for president, I voted for Senator Obama over Senator Clinton. Even though my skin is brown, like Senator Obama's I was notorious among Black bloggers and in the whitosphere for being a staunt Clinton supporter. However, when Hillary's campaign started telling people in Iowa that Obama was a Muslim, that annoyed me. When Clinton's New Hampshire campaign chairman announced that Obama had used cocaine AND that there were untold facts about him that would come out later (but that never were discovered), Clinton's campaign chairman rightly resigned. But his was the act of a surrogate for the campaign, following the orders of the Clinton campaign.

Then, Bill Clinton told voters that Obama had won South Carolina because Black presidential candidates always win South Carolina, like Jesse Jackson. That infuriated me and I decided that I couldn't support Clinton in 2008, in spite of all of the articles I had written at DailyKos (before I was banned) and elsewhere about the laudable things Bill and Hillary had done before 2008.

And then Clinton surrogate Erica Jong called Obama a "boy" at Huffington Post, while Geraldine Ferraro, another Clinton surrogate, opined that Obama had an advantage because his skin was brown.  After all of the above nonsense, I was ready to change sides and do everything in my power to prevent the Clintons from being rewarded for this attempt to color-arouse the electorate.

Had the Clintons succeeded, all Black candidates in the Democratic Party would have been subject to the same color-arousing tactics that the Clintons used in 2008.  It became more important to penalize Senator Hillary for her campaign tactics than it was to elect her president instead of Senator Obama.

I can even admit that I think wistfully that Hillary Clinton would have ended the war in Iraq somehow without expanding the wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan.  If so, the US foreign policy for the Middle East would have been far more to my liking, with less deaths of US personnel and innocent civilians overseas.  I only wish that Hillary had run a campaign against Senator Obama instead of against the Black candidate for president.  Had she pretended not to notice the difference in color and sought to beat Obama based on her experience and the fact that she would bring peace more effectively than Obama has, I believe Hillary would have won the nomination.

However, as soon as Clinton began treating Obama like "the Black candidate," Blacks turned on Hillary in droves, which made it virtually impossible for her to win in places like South Carolina.  Many whites also turned against her, including Senator Ted Kennedy and most of his family, when Hillary referenced the assassination of John F. Kennedy as a rationale for not dropping her presidential candidacy, which was already all but dead.

When Blacks such as myself left Clinton, it was because she brought it upon herself.  She should have run the same campaign against Obama that she would have run against John Edwards, and then Hillary would have won the Democratic Party's presidential nomination.

I would vote for Hillary in 2016 if she acknowledged and apologized for the fact that she treated Senator Obama like a Black man instead of like an American man.  She needs to admit that her surrogates thought they were helping her when everything her surrogates were saying was convincing Blacks to abandon Hillary's candidacy.

The Rehabilitation of Markos Moulitsas

I published the following article on July16, 2007, while beginning to research and publish the Truth About Kos blog one article and research path at a time.  Although something seemed inherently fishy about this "Kos" character, it took a month of additional research before I could discover and publish , on July 8, 2007, "the shocking facts" contained in the explosive  article entitled, "The Indictment of Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga by Justice and History."

The Indictment began as follows:

Having discovered that Markos Alberto Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA, founder of DailyKos) has a long history of participation in and support update the "Ïndictment,"of the Republican Party and, moreover, trained with the US Central Intelligence Agency in 2001, now research into the life and history of Markos Alberto Moulitsas ZÚÑiGA has revealed and established the following facts and, therefore, justice and history now bring this twenty-four count indictment of Markos Alberto Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA [MAMZ]:

It was subsequently necessary to update the "The Indictment",  to include new sources, discoveries and citations, particularly as members of the blogging public, including Stu Piddy, read the transcript of MAMZ's speech to the Commonwealth Club and realized that if MAMZ's activities were as he said they were in the speech, then he must have trained and worked at the CIA for as much as two full years, between 2001 and 2003.  These discoveries all began with my gnawing desire to understand the man who said he was "Crashing the Gates" of the Democratic Party and the mainstream media in order to remake them in his own image.

I don`t think any of us expected to discover that he was doing so only after having been trained by the United States' Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).  However, since the biography that MAMZ offered the world made no sense, it became necessary to research and explain the truth to the blogging and general public, by driving over eight hundred thousand Google hits that would be impossible to ignore.  (Some of the hits at Google for "Kos" and "CIA" relate too MAMZ's own statements on other issues rather than his professional involvement with the CIA.)

How did Markos achieve this stunning metamorphosis in just a few short years? Actually, nobody knows and Markos isn’t telling. He has told interviewers, improbably, that he last voted for the Republicans in 1992, because he suddenly realized that they didn’t support “states rights” as strongly as he would have liked. “States rights” is the right-wing proposition that the federal government lacks the Constitutional authority to oblige the states to integrate schools, oblige restaurants to serve Black patrons and mandate equal rights for the disabled. States rights was the clarion call of southern segregationists against integration of schools and restaurants.
Considering that, for Markos, part of the Republicans "speaking a good game" on libertarian issues consisted, in Markos’ words, of "fealty to states rights", clearly Markos is saying that he stopped supporting the Republicans because they stopped supporting states’ rights.
But, Markos' rejection of the Republicans today doesn’t make sense, because Republicans' dedication to states’ rights has not deminished. One would have thought that George H.W. Bush’s appointment of Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court would have satisfied Markos thirst for states rights jurisprudence on the US Supreme Court. With Clarence Thomas appointed to the US Supreme Court to uphold states’ rights, it hardly seems logical that Markos would have abandoned the Republicans who had done so much to revive “states rights” in the post Civil Rights era, particularly with the appoint of Clarence Thomas, the foremost advocate of states’ rights.

Visitor Asks, "Is Markos Moulitsas Openly Gay?"

For instance, US Senator Larry Craig opposed gay rights at every turn before being caught by police soliciting gay sex in an airport bathroom.  It is in this context that we should read the letter below in which MAMZ opposed any and all gay participation in the Armed Forces.

"Is Markos Moulitsas openly gay," one visitor to the Truth About Kos asked, as recorded by the blog's Site Meter. As part of researching and editing "The Indictment of Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA by Justice and History [now](Updated with Additional Information and Counts)," I read virtually every biographical article I could find on the Internet about Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga (MAMZ) back in 2007.   At that time, I found no indication that MAMZ had openly acknowledged being gay at any time.

More than anything else, a letter that MAMZ wrote and published at his college newspaper has indelibly connected the name "Markos C. A. Moulitsas Zúñiga" with homosexuality in the minds of the blogging and reading public.  Initially, the public wanted to know whether MAMZ was gay.  Now, some of the public (that pays any attention to him) apparently has concluded that MAMZ is gay and they have moved on to the question of whether he is openly gay.

In researching "The Indictment of Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA by Justice and History (Updated with Additional Information and Counts)," I, of course, read virtually every biological article that the mainstream newspapers and blogs had written, which articles were typically based exclusively on interviews with MAMZ himself.

I then began my own independent research and quickly found astounding facts, sources and issues that MAMZ had left out of those mainstream media interviews, including the articles and a letter to the editor that MAMZ had written when he was a student and participant in the Northern Illinois University's "Northern Star" student newspaper.

Among other strange opinions (for one who now claims to be a liberal), I discovered a letter to the editor, written by MAMZ in 1993, in which he expressed serious concerns about heterosexuality and homosexuality in the context of his experiences in the US Army.  MAMZ said he vehemently opposed ALL participation by homosexuals in the US Armed Forces, saying, "There is something inherently uncomfortable about it."



In response to my research and the public reaction to the letter itself, MAMZ was forced to acknowledge at his DailyKos blog that that he had been "an idiot" for espousing the conservative beliefs that he admitted to having held at least until he voted for Republican President George H. W. Bush in 1992.  He acknowledged he had been "an idiot" when he opposed gay rights, and when MAMZ supported Republican President Ronald Reagan, and when MAMZ was a Republican precinct captain for Republican Representative Henry Hyde, who led the House impeachment hearings against President Bill Clinton.  (Rep. Hyde was also a vehement anti-abortion activist in the Congress.).  See "Kos Acknowledges Truth About Kos." 




With the discovery that MAMZ had been the 1980's and 1990's equivalent of a US Army Hitler Youth, it was nonetheless the letter expressing such angst about the hurt masculinity of those such as himself who spent time with naked gays that has caused so many people suspect that MAMZ himself is gay.  Most people understand by now that there is a connection between publicly vehemently hating gays and privately loving and desiring them.  "Is Markos Moulitsas (DailyKos) a Closeted Gay Homophobe Blogger?"

One study,using electronic penis engorgement sensors, showed that the men who most vehemently oppose homosexuals and homosexuality are also men who show the most penis engorgement while viewing men engaged in explicit homosexual sex acts. For instance, US Senator Larry Craig opposed gay rights at every turn before being caught by police soliciting gay sex in an airport bathroom.

In other words, the more a person hates and/or fears gays and publicly oppose gay rights, the more the public should investigate that person's own sexuality to determine whether his/her professed attitude toward gays is merely a way of distracting attention from his own homosexuality and, some say effeminate behavior, by targeting others for being gay.

It is in this context that we should read the letter in which MAMZ opposed any and all gay participation in the Armed Forces.  I quote the entire letter below so that members of the public who are asking, "Is Markos Moulitsas openly gay?" can find this letter in Google searches and decide for themselves whether his position on gay rights (when he was 22 years old and  he was trained by the CIA before he announced that he was a progressive) is relevant to questions about MAMZ's own sexuality.

It’s truly disturbing how much ado has been made over Bill Clinton’s campaign promise to lift the ban on homosexuals from the U.S. military. It’s ironic how it has taken a president who has never served in the military to make a promise that affects the military in such a negative manner. Those who have served in the military, such as myself, understand the demands and pressures of military life are incompatible with allowing integration with homosexuals.

I’m neither socially conservative or prejudiced, and neither is liberal columnist Mike Royko, Gen. Colin Powell, and influential liberal Democrats Sam Nunn and Les Aspin, all who’ve come out against lifting the ban. Under military circumstances, as much has to be done as possible to focus the unit’s mission and keep disciplinary problems to a minimum.

Worrying about whether the known homosexual sleeping next to you is watching as you change your underwear may seem trivial as you read this, but to the soldier who’s short-tempered after three weeks in the field and four hours of daily sleep, it becomes a matter of great importance to his pride and sensibilities.

And in any case, there aren’t many people who would change clothes in a group of co-workers if members of the opposite sex were in the same room watching. There is something inherently uncomfortable about it. Such fears would go a long way in disrupting efficiency and morale in a unit.

I have stated before that, with MAMZ ostensibly "Crashing the Gates" of the Democratic Party, it should be of far greater concern to progressives and Democrats that MAMZ has acknowledged, on an audiotape, (see Transcript) that he was training to be a "secret agent" in "clandestine services" at the US CIA during 2002, when he started the supposedly "leftist," "liberal," "progressive" DailyKos blog.  This one fact brings into question all that MAMZ has said about himself and politics since then and before then, and also leads us to question the motivation of his letter publicly professing his "inherently uncomfortable" relationship with gays.

To this day, MAMZ has wrapped himself in the trappings of marriage and fatherhood, as did Senator Larry Craig, but MAMZ has not publicly and directly stated that he gay or that he is not gay.  He has said, however, that joining the US Army was something he did, or was glad he did, in order to remove doubts about his manhood.

Particularly with MAMZ saying, "There's a reason most vets running for office this year are running as Democrats," readers perceive his ambition for public office and/or power.  Each day people Google MAMZ to find out, "Is Markos Moulitsas openly gay," and then they come to the Truth About Kos blog.

MAMZ claims that he was unmanly when he joined the army, but then he got a "rebuild" and came out a "real man.'  In light of his letter to the editor, the public wants to understand what "rebuild" MAMZ got while living in the military's all-male dormitories, and whether the experience really changed MAMZ in the ways he claims it did.  His letter to the editor shows that Army basic training really did not resolve all of his issues in this regard.

CIA-Trained DailyKos Owner "Admits Slip-Up on Calling Turkey an Arab Country"

According to Politifact.Com blogger Markos C. Alberto Moulitsas Zúñiga, (MAMZ) who acknowledges having been trained by the CIA for two years in Washington, nonetheless stated incorrectly in a television talking heads appearance that Turkey was an Arab country. Politifact says:

During the June 6, 2010, edition of ABC's This Week, Markos Moulitsas, who publishes the liberal blog Daily Kos, joined a roundtable discussion that touched on Israel's decision earlier this month to send commandos to board a flotilla carrying aid and activists in defiance of an Israeli blockade of Gaza. The commandos clashed with some of those on board, and the raid ended with nine people dead.

During the interview, Politifact says that MAMZ said:

I mean, the fact is whether Israel had the right to do what it did or not, they handled it so poorly that they basically alienated much of the world. They alienated an important Arab ally in Turkey, and they put the United States in a really difficult position.

MAMZ knows how to talk like a liberal/leftist/progressive, (as he well should after admittedly training with the CIA for two years), even though his personal and family history and trail of lies about his own background prove that he is nothing more than a CIA-trained impostor of a liberal. 

What this case shows, if nothing else, is that Moulitsas Zúñiga has convinced some of the media to refer to him using only his father's last name, which removes him from the contentious discussion of why the family businesses on his mother's Zúñiga side of the family, including Carlos Eduardo Delgado Zúñiga received a one million dollar loan guarantee from the United States Government's Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) (see OPIC press release referring to the Baja Salt Group) Moulitsas Zúniga himself claimed to be a poor  immigrant. 

("Yo no tengo dinero.  Yo no vengo de una familia rico o poderos. Era inmigrante nos Estados Unidos . . ." )  [I don't have money.  I do not come from a rich or powerful family.  I was an imigrant in the United States.]

Moulitsas desires to distance himself from the international activities of his mother's side of the family, in El Salvador, because one prominent member of that side of the family has been associated with a pro-business group that the CIA calls a right-wing pressure group, associated with death squads.



It is certain understandable why MAMZ would like to disassociate himself from the Salvadoran oligarchy side of his family, given all of the above and the degree to which it disproves much of what MAMZ has said about himself.  However, in this case, failing to also use the Latin-American "Zúñiga" last name in reference to the son has the effect of making it harder to study and become astounded by the enormous wealth and shocking associations of his mother's Zúñiga side of the family.



What Politifact should have pointed out is the strange tendency of the media to call DailyKos a liberal blog, even though its owner admits that he was in training at the CIA when he started the blog, and he has a long history of Republican Party affiliation, voting and campaign work. He admittedly voted for the election of George H.W. Bush against Bill Clinton in 1992 and then ridiculed President Bill Clinton in 1993 for his efforts to open the US military to service by openly gay persons.
