More Information About Markos C.A. Moulitsas Zúñiga

Somebody has to add some real information to the Wikipedia.org biography of Markos C.A. Moulitsas Zúñiga and it seems it is being done, a little bit at a time. (Right) now, there is a lot to be learned at his Wikipedia biography, if you read between the lines of propaganda.

[edit]Early life

Moulitsas in the U.S. Army

Markos C. A. Moulitsas Zúñiga was born in Chicago, Illinois to a Salvadoran mother and Greek father, and grew up in El Salvador. (Following the Spanish language custom for surnames, his most important surname is "Moulitsas", instead of "Zúñiga".) It is not know what his middle initials "C. A." stand for, although he used them to sign at least one opinion piece that he submitted to his college newspaper, the Northern Star.

His family moved back to the United States in 1980 due to the Salvadoran civil war. After graduating fromSchaumburg High School[2] , he served in the U.S. Army from 1989 through 1992; while stationed in Germany, and after missing deployment to the Gulf War "by a hair",[3] he changed his political affiliation from the Republican to the Democratic Party. He has described the American military as "perhaps the ideal society – we worked hard but the Army took care of us in return."[3]

After leaving the army, he attended Northern Illinois University and wrote for (and eventually managed) the Northern Star college newspaper.[4] According to Sourcewatch.org., one of the articles he wrote vehemently opposed all gay service in the military and screenshots of that article are available at various blogs on the Web.

On August 30, 2007, when confronted in comments at DailyKos about that 1993 college newspaper article in which he opposed all gay service in the military, Markos C. A. Moulitsas Zúñiga responded in comments at his blog, saying, "I haven't hidden the fact that I was a REPUBLICAN back then. And yes, by being a Republican, I held stupid-ass beliefs." Kos at DailyKos

Moulitsas is a 2007 inductee into the Northern Star Hall of Fame, an honor bestowed by the alumni association of his college newspaper.[5]Moulitsas earned two bachelor degrees at Northern Illinois University (1992-1996), where he majored in Philosophy, Journalism, and Political Science. He earned a J.D. at Boston University School of Law (1996-1999).[6]

In a June 6, 2006 speech to the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, Moulitsas stated that he had spent between six months and two years training at the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC. In this speech Kos said began in 2001, before he started DailyKos,Commonwealth Club Audio Tape of Moulitsas interview. and continued until the beginning of his involvement with the Howard Dean presidential campaign (late 2003/early 2004), which would mean that Markos Moulitsas was in training with the US CIA for as much as two years.Commonwealth Club Audio Tape

In a 1993 college essay, Moulitsas opined that gays should not be permitted to serve in the military under any circumstances. Moulitsas said that for non-gay military men, "There is something inherently uncomfortable about it."Sourcewatch.org

[edit]Daily Kos

Moulitsas founded Daily Kos in May 2002, and the site quickly rose to prominence. In its first year, Daily Kos received over one million unique visitors.[citation needed]

Moulitsas attended the California State Democratic convention in Sacramento in March, 2003 with Jerome Armstrong of MyDD. According toInstapundit, they may have been the first bloggers to be officially accredited at a political convention.[citation needed] By June 9, 2003, when Moulitsas's consulting firm, Armstrong Zúniga, began working for Howard Dean's presidential campaign, Moulitsas says he chose to work with Howard Dean rather than join the Central Intelligence Agency.[7][8] Based on the dates he provided in his interview at the Commonwealth Club, he would have been interviewing and training with the CIA for up to two years, during the time when he started DailyKos. Some leftists, progressives and liberals have expressed doubt whether a true progressive would train at the CIA, particularly in light of what has been learned from the torture memos left over from the Bush Administration. During the Commonwealth Club interview, Markos C.A. Moulitsas Zúñiga says he believes the CIA is a "liberal institution" whose "heart is in the right place." After reviewing the Commonwealth Club interview, one criticentitled an article, "Daily Kos: CIA Engineered Controlled Opposition?"

[edit]Growth and controversy

( . . . )

Daily Kos has spawned an annual conference. The inaugural YearlyKos was held from June 8 to June 11, 2006, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Guests included Nevada U.S. Senator and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, former Virginia Governor Mark Warner, DNC chairman and 2004 presidential candidate Howard Dean.

In a Washington Post article entitled, "A Diversity of Opinion, if Not Opinionators", WaPost author Jose Antonio Vargas reported that he had seen "a Sea of Middle-Aged White Males" at YearlyKos. The Washington Post writer quoted the organizer of the conference, Gina Cooper, as saying, "I hate using the word 'diversity.'" The reporter further quoted one Latina participant at the 2007 YearlyKos conference as posing the question, "Why is the blogosphere, which is supposed to be more democratic, reinforcing the same white male power structure that exists?" New York Times Features Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA, but Not His CIA Connections

This New York Times article demonstrates that the NYT will help Markos Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA raise money and attempt to increase his influence within the Democratic Party, but without ever mentioning the fact that ZÚÑIGA has acknowledged that he was trained
(for this role?) by the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC.

Apparently, in spite of the background information available in ZÚÑIGA's Wikipedia page, and now at SourceWatch.Org, the New York Times is willing to accept the premise that "liberal bloggers" and those who want to push the Democratic Party to the left are led by someone trained first by the CIA.
A group of liberal bloggers say they are teaming up with organized labor and MoveOn.org to form a political action committee that will seek to push the Democratic Party further to the left.
( . . . )
The new organization is in many ways the liberal equivalent of the Club for Growth, a conservative group that has financed primary challenges against Republicans it deems insufficiently dedicated to tax cuts and small government.
ZÚÑIGA's group is only the equivalent of the Club for Growth if the leaders of the Club for Growth were trained in Cuba for two years months in preparation for their right-wing advocacy, like MAMZ was trained at the CIA.

Is it possible that JIM RUTENBERG prepared this this New York Times article on ZÚÑIGA's activities without ever noticing the 78,000 hits for "CIA" and "Moulitsas" at Google? Did Rutenberg not notice that the very second hit on the search results for "CIA" and "ZÚÑIGA" leads to evidence that Markos C.A. Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA (MAMZ) was trained by the CIA? What does it say about the mainstream media when they ignore discrediting information that so many other people already understand as fundamental to understanding MAMZ background?

If this article is any indication, then the mainstream media will continue to try to present MAMZ to America as a "progressive" and "liberal" in spite of and without ever mentioning his self-admitted connections with and devotion to the Central Intelligence Agency, and his previous advocacy against ALL gay service in the military.

Alright, I admit that I take this as a personal affront. I didn't research and publish the first transcript of MAMZ'speech at the Commonwealth Club so it could be ignored. I didn't go through MAMZ's writings at his college newspaper and find his anti-gay screed in the hopes that the mainstream media would find these novelties uninteresting and unenlightening.

The good news is that before giving any money to MAMZ and his front groups, every voter and person can look at MAMZ's Wiki page or Google him and discover his connections to the CIA, and discover that his family has received at least a million dollars in loan guarantees from the US Government, for some reason.

I just noticed that although MAMZ went by the name Markos C.A. Moulitsas in college, he since has dropped both his middle initials from his name. I wonder why? And why has the article in which he used these middle initials (and called for all gays to be banned from the military) mysteriously disappareared from the archives at his college's student newspaper?

"Kos" and "CIA" Search Finds Over One Million Hits at Google

The Jawa Report says,
Markos "Kos" Moulitsas almost got hired by the CIA.
( . . . )

If he had been hired, I'm sure it would have looked something like this (photograph above).
Since the photograph made me laugh out loud, I just have to share it with readers.

I feel proud that The Truth About Kos Blog has achieved its goal of making it virtually impossible for anyone to quote DailyKos in the blogosphere without pointing out that:
"Markos Moulitsas Zúniga, owner of the DailyKos website, now admits that he spent six months in the employ of the US Central Intelligence Agency in 2001," writes Holland. "In a one-hour interview on June 2, 2006 at the Commonwealth Club, Moulitsas, also known as 'Kos,’ admitted that he was a CIA employee and would have 'no problem working for them’ in the present."--Kurt Nimmo
By researching and publishing information that was not available anywhere else about Markos C.A. Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA (MAMZ), including publishing a transcript of his comments at the Commonwealth Club, the Truth About Kos Blog outed MAMZ, virtually compelled whitosphere bloggers to link to this afrosphere source, and to acknowledge that, even as a minority, Black bloggers have political power. In this case, the information one Black blogger had to share was actually more compelling to white than to Blacks, since Blacks had mostly ignored MAMZ (2% Black participants at DailyKos) while whites had once taken him seriously.

Perhaps most white bloggers don't even know or care that it was a Black man who outed MAMZ as a CIA agent, based on a tip from Stu Piddy. But the outing has become a national collaboration of the Left, because none of us wants to be infiltrated by the CIA as we go about the serious work of progressive politics.

That's why if you Google "Kos" and "CIA" now, you find 1,280,000 hits, and MOST are NOT about Valerie Plame anymore. They're instances of bloggers citing the Truth About Kos Blog and secondary sources to prove that nothing MAMZ and his minions say can have any more credibility than a press release from undercover CIA agents or military employees in Iraq.

There is some unfinished business, however. Newspapers like the Washington Post continue to cite MAMZ without telling readers that he has admitted to spending up to two years time at the CIA, and that he once opposed ALL gay service in the military. These are facts the public needs to know. These are facts that have over a million hits at Google. And these are facts that the mainstream media is ignoring. This means that the mainstream media may NEVER tell the public about even well-known infiltration of progressive groups.

At the same time, with MAMZ's CIA connections reported at Wikipedia, it's very hard for the mainstream media to write glowing "immigrant make good" stories about MAMZ, particularly when Truth About Kos has pointed out that MAMZ is not even an immigrant, but was born in Chicago, into a family that is demonstrably very, very wealthy and very intimately connected to right-wing groups in El Salvador. Just read the links in the sidebar if you haven't already. They'll take you to the Government documents and corporate websites that show that someone in MAMZ's family was also on a representative board of El Salvador's right wing ANEP (National Association of Private Enterprises).

I guess the mainstream media will never tell us about this, even though I personally spoke with a reporter from the Washington Post who subsequently wrote about MAMZ without mentioning this at least very curious and discrediting information within MAMZ's background. It doesn't matter much, though. Any college student with access to Google now knows that MAMZ has to be treated as a CIA agent or asset, because, as TruthOut says in his YouTube videos about MAMZ, "Once CIA, Always CIA."

MaryScott O'Connor's MyLeftWing Still Links to John Edwards' "Campaign to Change America" Site

I note with amusement that the MyLeftWing psuedo progressive whitosphere blog still links to "John Edwards Campaign to Change America" among its list of "POLITICIANS & Supporters". Needless to say, all of the "politicians and supporters" on the list are white men, except for Barack Obama, who only got on the list by being elected President of the United States.

In the run-up to the 2008 Democratic Presidential Primaries, MaryScott O'Connor had a "hard-on" for John Edwards that hasn't even subsided with the knowledge that Edwards is a boldfaced liar whose insistence that he hadn't cheated on his wife could well have cost the Democrats the 2008 presidential election, had we been foolish enough to nominate John Edwards for president.

MaryScott O'Connor still thinks it's worth linking to John Edwards. That shows you how much judgment she has in general. Ultimately, John Edwards "Campaign to Change America" was an expensive effort to change the country from one with a 43-term white male monopoly of the presidency into a country with a 44-term white male monopoly of the presidency. That's change we can do without.

She also lists Al Gore on her list of Politicians and Supporters, although Gore flunked out of divinity school AND law school, after smoking pot and drinking his way to a "C" average during his undergraduate years at Harvard University. These are the politicians MaryScott O'Connor admires, but Secretary of State Hillary Clinton can't get on the list, and neither can any other woman from America or elsewhere.

This is why Dave from New York is really wasting his time arguing with people who stomach this sort of nonsense at MyLeftWing.

Brad Blog Plumbing the Reasons for the Authoritarianism at DailyKos

The Brad Blog has reported ugly truths about (MAMZ) "Kos" of DailyKos, and his minions, and I thought I'd link to their coverage today. And yet, during the period when I and Stu Piddy discovered that MAMZ had spent up to two years training at the CIA, the Brad Blog never seems to have covered that extremely important fact. I constantly Googled the issue at the time, under the assumption that blogs that reported MAMZ's CIA connections were more trustworthy than blogs that ignored the news of MAMZ's CIA, and blogs that attempted to explain away or continue collaborating with CIA-connected MAMZ.

Under this test of credibility, the entire mainstream press has to be considered suspect, because they continue to quote MAMZ without noting that his Wikipedia page and SourceWatch page clearly state that he was trained by the CIA for up to two years. (However, it does seem that they have stopped writing glowing biographical pieces on MAMZ since the Truth About Kos demonstrated that virtually everything MAMZ says about himself and his family background is distorted or outright lies.)

Maybe the mainstream press knows so many CIA-trained "progressives" that it no longer seems remarkable to them, but it is still remarkable to me. Just as likely, the mainstream press has an unspoken policy of not naming known past and present CIA operatives, just as they don't "out" members of Congress whom they know to be gay, even when the members' sexual orientation is highly relevant in the context of their legislative efforts, usually against gay rights.

I don't trust ANYONE who isn't surprised to learn that someone (like MAMZ) who is ostensibly progressive spent two years "training" at the CIA.

The following Brad Blog posts raises, among other questions, the issue of why so many CIA-connected people (like Larry Johnson and Markos C.A. Moulitsas ZÚÑIGA) are fronting supposedly progressive blogs. (And yet with a quick Google search, I can't find where Brad Blog has directly addressed questioningly MAMZ's almost two years' "training" at the CIA in Washington DC. And I can't find where the Brad Blog has cited the Truth About Kos Blog's proof that MAMZ was "trained" for up to two years at the CIA. And so I don't know if the Brad Blog attacks DailyKos as true opposition to it, or merely to hold the attention of blog readers to the pseudo-progressive CIA-infected whitosphere.

Can anyone tell me whether the Brad Blog has ever pointed out that MAMZ was trained by the CIA? They SHOULD certainly have done so, because it would underscore the reasons for suspicion of MAMZ on the election integrity issue. If they haven't reported MAMZ's connections to the CIA, in spite of every motivation to do so, to support their own arguments against MAMZ on election integrity, then their must be a reasons for that failure to report MAMZ's CIA connections as well.

The only sense this all makes to me (MAMZ and Johnson's CIA connections AND participation in the psuedo progressive whitosphere) is that some Government agency is behind it, supporting, encouraging and financing it. MAMZ himself acknowledged on audio tape that he was at the CIA when he started DailyKos and would have "no problem working for them again", while Johnson acknowledges that he's "ex" CIA. That's not "tinfoil". Those are confessions of the sort that are admiissible in court under the Federal Rules of Evidence, and in spite of the rule against hearsay evidence, because what we "hear" someone "say" about their own behavior, when what they say is damning evidence against themselves, is more likely to be true, since people don't usually confess to heinous crimes and acts which they have not committed.

As one commentator has said with respect to MAMZ, "Once CIA, always CIA." For this very reason, I don't trust anybody who has EVER worked for the CIA, because I can never know what their true agenda is, and what their motive is for saying and doing any particular thing on any particular day. EVERYTHING they say has to be suspect, interpreted in the light of their connections, past and/or present, overt and/or covert, to the Central Intelligence Agency.

I frankly don't know WHO to trust (almost no one completely in the whitosphere), but I cite Brad Blog here because they have highlighted MAMZ's aversity to election integrity. And yet I wonder why they haven't pointed out MAMZ connections to the CIA and have left that task to commentors.

Former CIA Analyst Outraged by 'Orwellian Fascist' Tactics of World's Most Powerful Supposedly 'Progressive' Blogsite...

Glad to see it's not just us. We've had our own problems with the self-destructive, control-bots of the Kossack Army Guards of the Gate. Note: The Daily Kos readers, by and large, should not be blamed, since they seem to get it, but founder Markos Moulitsas and his front-page diarists and automatons are a different matter.

Now they've managed to raise the ire of BRAD BLOG friend and former CIA analystLarry Johnson of NoQuarter, who, believe it or not, was far less politic in his response to Kos than even we were.

And, unlike most of the folks who have been banned and/or purged at dKos for having the temerity to discuss issues of Election Integrity, at least Larry was given a"warning" about his "unacceptable" behavior before it was demanded that he sign the equivalent of a loyalty oath to regain his ability to post over there again...Which, understandably, he has no interest in doing...

What a bunch of goddamn, Orwellian fascists. Here’s the message waiting for me when I checked in tonight:

Okay Mr. Kos. Here’s a word for you: GO FUCK YOURSELF. (Actually, that’s three words. My bad.)

This wannabee poseur and his gang of Animal Farm pig imitators have lost touch with reality.
...
Well Markos and crowd. Orwell was right. Fuck you people. I won’t post and I won’t read. But most of all, I won’t apologize. I have nothing to apologize for other than making the false assumption that you clowns gave a shit about freedom of expression or liberty. You guys are John Bolton and Dick Cheney in drag. You are welcome to kiss my ass.

The graf explaining the initial root of the problem is removed in the above, in hopes that you might go give Larry's excellent site a read to find out what his particular violation was.

UPDATE 2/17/08: A senior Daily Kos front-pager takes yet another shot at The BRAD BLOG following this post, referring to us as a "nutter site" doing "more harm than good" for the cause of election integrity. Go figure. The dKos poster, "DHinMI", also fails to fully disclose who he actually is. But we've been able to connect a few dots, making his Swiftboat-style attack on us a bit easier to understand. Complete shameful details here...

The World's Most-Read 'Progressive' Blogger Continues to Misinform His Readers, Seems to Have No Understanding of How Our Electoral System Works (or Doesn't)...

With "friends" like Markos Moulitsas at Daily Kos, Democrats may not need Republicans to help them lose this year. Once again, the namesake of the largest supposedly-Progressive blogsite in the world misleads his readers, confuses issues of Election Integrity with unmade allegations of "conspiracy theories," and otherwise makes all-new extraordinary claims which are wholly unsupported by any evidence, extraordinary or otherwise.

I don't know what to think about Brad Blog citing CIA Larry Johnson above as an authority. An ex-CIA man has an "excellent site"? HAHAHA!!!!! I wouldn't trust ANYONE who's "ex"-CIA.
All too much of what is available in print in the whitosphere is there to manipulate readers, in ways that we can't entirely even imagine. Maybe the whitosphere -- all or most of it -- is mostly a way to distract and discourage real white progressives from engaging in direct action of the sort that took place in the sixties.
